When you’re deciding what drink to share with your guests, be sure to pick one that has a meaning to you and your fiancé and one that’s unique to the two of you. If you’re not sure where to start on your search for the perfect drink, here are five things to keep in mind when picking your signature wedding cocktail.
- Have a Modern classic cocktail. Although we believe it’s essential to have trendy cocktails with dry ice/liquid nitrogen at your wedding, you can stick with a classic drink and add one or two new ingredients to it in order to spice it up a bit. Add in a different mixer to it or ask a local mixologist to help you find a fun and easy way to add some flavour and personality to your go-to beverage.
- Use Your Wedding Colours. Add in the theme of your wedding and incorporate your wedding colours as part of the drink. Whether it’s with a pop of fruit or a kind of drink that’s the same hue as the decorations in your venue. If you can’t pick a drink that has the exact color scheme (an elegant blue libation is hard to come by, for example), feel free to spice up the cocktail with a colored napkin.
- Give it a Fun Name. No matter what signature drink you pick, give it an added twist with a fun name. Pick something that incorporates the drink name and either your wedding hashtag or a spin off your and your fiance’s name. We once had a Beyonce-inspired party, here are some fun names we came up with, for the cocktails:
- Drunk in Love (watermelon cocktail)
- Don’t hurt yourself
- Ashes to ashes, dust to side chicks
- I Slay
- Spiked Lemonade
- Bills, Bills, Bills
- Go with a His and Hers. If you can’t decide on what drink you would like, you can let your fiancé pick a cocktail that best describes you and you pick his. OR we could make the choice for you.
- Add a Serving of Love. A fun way to personalize your signature cocktail is to have a story behind it. Maybe pick the drink that you two had on your first date or the cocktail that’s your go-to on a Sunday evening together.
